For ICT-Works this was even more so because on this very special day we saw our CEO, Xoliswa Kakana and one of our board members, Adv Louisa Zondo achieve yet another remarkable feat as they both summitted Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. After months of gruelling training amidst their already very demanding schedules, this was a personal goal that not only took a lot of them to achieve but also gave them much in terms of introspection, an opportunity to reflect on the strength of the human will as well as the not to be missed opportunity to fly the ICT-Works flag on the summit of the highest peak in Africa. The whole of ICT-Works as well as their family and friends were delighted to receive the summitteers back at the OR Tambo international arrivals terminal to congratulate the pair on their immense achievement.

ICT-Works achieves certified PCI-DSS v 3.2 Compliance! https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-achieves-certified-pci-dss-v-3-2-compliance/ https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-achieves-certified-pci-dss-v-3-2-compliance/#respond Thu, 08 Feb 2018 07:16:28 +0000 https://ict-works.africa/?p=311 The Transport Team is proud to announce that ICT-Works has achieved certified compliance against the Payment Card Industry Standard PCI-DSS version 3.2!

PCI standard is a requirement to operate a fare system that uses EMV technology. This compliance adds significant value to our Transport Solutions offering. In line with legislation promulgated by national government, this certification will future-proof our world-first fare revenue collection, part of our public transport system framework.

The promulgation is technology agnostic, and only  refers to a bank issued fare medium that must be based on the Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) standard that  should contain the Automated Fare Collection (AFC)  Data Structure.

This is a huge achievement! Thanks go to all who assisted in making this happen!

Handover certificate – Cape Town https://ict-works.africa/handover-certificate-cape-town/ https://ict-works.africa/handover-certificate-cape-town/#respond Fri, 08 Sep 2017 07:10:47 +0000 https://ict-works.africa/?p=302 Please allow me to take this opportunity to congratulate ICT-Works and particularly our Transport Business Unit,  hard work that they have put into ensuring that we finally receive our long awaited Taking Over Certificate. This is a significant milestone for our company.

As you are aware, the City of Cape Town Tender was submitted in September 2009, after much deliberation and negotiation, the contract was finally awarded in February 2011, with the project commencing immediately thereafter. The Contract is split into two major phases, namely the project implementation phase, followed by the maintenance and support phase.

During the project implementation phase, from 2011 through to 2018, the contractual requirements changed substantially with multiple variation orders, the delivery of which ICT-Works had to accommodate, often under highly pressurised circumstances. Other challenges included a highly demanding client, ongoing changes in scope, the cancellation of the APTMS contract created further challenges in managing the overall implementation and operations, ongoing delays with station rollouts by the City of Cape Town’s third party contractors, resulted in staggered implementation and operations.  In this period there have been several changes of ICT-Works leadership, difficult partner challenges, allegations of corruption by a disgruntled former executive leading to a gruesome investigation that taught us how to better manage our documentation. Through all of these challenges the ICT-Works team persevered to maintain consistency in the delivery of this service,  and  came out stronger.

The Taking Over Certificate is a contractual milestone which is issued upon completion of the works (project implementation phase). This Certificate was finally awarded to ICT-Works on Thursday, 02 August 2018. At the same time as this Certificate was awarded, so too was the confirmation of the commencement of the seven year maintenance and support phase. This phase involves the maintenance and support of everything we have implemented to date being the end to end AFC solution. This ensures ICT-Works of seven years’ worth of annuity income,  allowing us the opportunity to continue to deliver and build on our quality service, as well as build on our relationship with the City of Cape Town. This further  gives us a strategic advantage over our competitors with respect to the forthcoming Phase 2  and other opportunities in the rest of South Africa and Africa.

This has been one of our most complex projects, making this an extremely significant milestone. Therefore please allow me, on behalf of our Board and our Exco, to congratulate this team.

ICT-WORKS…and cares, and gives!! https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-and-cares-and-gives/ https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-and-cares-and-gives/#respond Wed, 06 Sep 2017 06:52:59 +0000 https://ict-works.africa/?p=274 Mam’ Khanyi from Home of Hope came to ICT-Works Rivonia office to tell the inspiring story of rescuing young girls from abusive situations. Her tale was frightening, but it was also uplifting to hear about the action she is taking and how fearlessly committed she is to her cause, sometimes coming against grave danger to rescue the young girls she takes into her care. Home of Hope currently takes care of 79 young girls of school going and university age and she has been doing this for seventeen years.

It was the organisation’s immense pleasure to hand over a cheque to her for the total value of R 11 000. This is money raised from ICT-Works employees who committed themselves with their donations towards supporting this amazing woman and the very important work she does.

This is the magic that happens when the ICT-Works family comes together for something special!
