A programme which was initiated in 2003 to enable future aspirations of a girl child in Africa, by exposing them to the working environment through shadowing for the day and talking to staff within organisations that are taking part in this initiative.

ICT-Works with the aim of fostering a balance of future leaders, invited seven female and three male learners from East Bank High School in Alexandra Township. The learners underwent a selection process which was coordinated by both ICT-Works and the School by challenging them to write essays motivating why they had to be chosen to spend the day with the organisation.

The learners who were chosen are those who displayed an understanding of what is that is of interest to them in the ICT industry. These learners were treated to a host of speakers who are specialists with rich stories of experience that not only opened them up to the work that is required of them to succeed but the fruits of the hard-work which would enrich their lives.

A special thank you to all the speakers who took time out of their busy schedules to prepare and deliver presentations as part of this year’s ICT-Works Cell C Take a Child to Work Day!

ICT-Works enjoys quality time with the tots at Bathabeleng Day Care Centre this Easter https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-enjoys-quality-time-with-the-tots-at-bathabeleng-day-care-centre-this-easter/ https://ict-works.africa/ict-works-enjoys-quality-time-with-the-tots-at-bathabeleng-day-care-centre-this-easter/#respond Tue, 18 Apr 2017 07:14:42 +0000 https://ict-works.africa/?p=308 The ICT-Works CSI Team went to visit the young children at the Bathabeleng Day Care Centre in Ivory Park where they delivered snack-packs, Easter eggs, tables, chairs and playmats for the children.

The Bathabeleng Home for Orphans, with which ICT-Works has been involved for a long time, is run by Mrs. Petunia Mankutlwise. The money gained from the operation of the Day Care Centre assists her to bear the costs of running the Home. In order to enable her to offer the best possible service, the tables, chairs and playmats will ensure that the children are always comfortable during meal, learning and most importantly, nap times.

“This forms just one of the important parts of our overall Social Involvement activity, to offer assistance where we are able to make a small difference in the local community. We are very proud to be affiliated with the Bathabeleng Home and wish Petunia all of the best in the running of her Day Care Centre,” says Maggy Sibiya, Executive Director at ICT-Works. “Aside from this being a way to contribute, it really adds value to our staff as well who thoroughly enjoy being involved in this kind of activity. They all had a wonderful day playing and singing with the little ones, and were rather sad when they had to leave.”

ICT-Works is a 100% black women owned ICT Solutions provider based in Rivonia, Johannesburg. The company operates in other South African provinces and African countries as well, offering various Information Communication Technology solutions and services to major public sector and blue-chip companies, and consider Community Upliftment to be at the very heart of their business operational strategy to ensure that by ploughing back, their own success is a source of support and inspiration to those they are able to reach.
